Tavern Tables, Dining Tables, Kitchen TablesThe Tavern style table was the center of everyday life in Colonial America. Colonists used the large table to perform many of their everyday functions so it needed to be built to withstand hard use. Not much has changed in two hundred years. They are still constructed with four legs attached to an “apron” using old world joinery. Each apron (the boards directly under the top) is attached using strong “mortise and tenon” joinery. Square pegs hold the joint tight. This type of construction will last generations. (There are no screws or metal corner brackets to fail.) Secondly, the extra strength of the Tavern Table design comes from the “H-stretchers” connected to the lower portion of the legs. These are attached using the same method as the rest of the table. Back in the old days, things were built to last and craftsman took pride in what they created. We know that our Tavern Tables will also be around for generations to come. The most popular size (34" x 75") will comfortably seat 6 people. If you need a larger table for occasional gathering, "company boards" are a nice option and can add more seating in a hurry. Tavern Table Prices
Prices for tables include “breadboard” ends and cherry or maple bases. For Company Boards, add $400. “Company Boards” add 20 inches to the total length and allows for two more seats. All tables have hand planed tops and a distressed antique finish. |
